For the first step in the discovery phase of the project, I decided to conduct user surveys to gain a deeper insight into individuals\u2019 relationships with exercising.<\/em><\/span><\/p>

  • I created surveys through Google Docs that were shared with those within, or who were looking to become a part of, the fitness community.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>
    • Forty surveys were taken from individuals whose ages ranged from 18 to 65+.<\/li><\/ul>
      • The results showed that many individuals struggled to maintain a fitness routine due to a lack of time, physical discomfort, general exhaustion, and mental health struggles. However, I found that having an instructor and working out with friends was what kept most individuals motivated to exercise.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

          After conducting user surveys I began organizing interviews with potential users to gain a better grasp of the problem at hand.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

          • Just as with the surveys, I was curious to hear why individuals were motivated to exercise and what caused them to potentially lose this motivation.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>
            • For this project, seven potential users were interviewed.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>
              • I found that for users to stick to a fitness routine, they needed other individuals’ emotional support as well as routines that could be completed quickly and from any location.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

                  Before completing the project, I conducted user testing on high-fidelity prototypes to test the app’s intuitiveness and any usability issues.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>

                  • Five potential users tested the app.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>
                    • Users were asked to purchase a fitness class, attend a \u201clive class\u201d, and navigate through their profile.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

                                  Overall, this project taught me that you can never assume what users want or what the problem of a project may be.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

                                  • The largest struggle when creating this app was creating a concept that varied from what was currently on the market.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>
